This customer-service policy summarizes the refund and chargeback provisions in NovelCult's Terms of Use. If this page and the Terms conflict, the Terms and applicable law control.
Truck Kun, Inc. is the seller and paid-transaction merchant for NovelCult subscriptions. Stripe processes the payment. NovelCult is the product name for the reader service.
NovelCult subscriptions provide paid early access to a moving window of chapters for one novel. Canceling stops future renewal according to the displayed billing state; it does not automatically reverse a completed charge.
Before requesting a refund
For missing access, duplicate billing, an accidental renewal, removed content, an incorrect tier, or billing confusion, use Contact NovelCult before starting a bank dispute whenever possible.
Provide:
- your NovelCult account email;
- novel title and subscription tier;
- payment or charge date;
- Stripe receipt, invoice ID, or payment reference; and
- a clear description of what happened and the resolution you want.
Never provide a full card number, card security code, Stripe secret, password, or authentication token.
Are NovelCult subscriptions refundable?
Purchases are generally treated as final and refunds are not guaranteed. NovelCult may review a refund request case by case, subject to the Terms of Use, the payment and access records, the reason for the request, platform policy, and applicable law.
Nothing on this page removes a refund, cancellation, withdrawal, or other consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded in your jurisdiction.
Does cancellation refund my latest payment?
No. Cancellation normally stops a future renewal and takes effect at the end of the current paid period. It does not automatically refund a charge that has already been processed.
The reader normally keeps eligible access through the paid period unless the subscription or account is restricted earlier because of payment state, fraud, policy enforcement, processor action, or another applicable reason.
What if I forgot to cancel?
A refund is not guaranteed for a missed cancellation. Contact NovelCult as soon as possible and include:
- the account email;
- novel and tier;
- charge date;
- reason for the request; and
- whether the subscription has now been canceled.
The request will be reviewed under the current Terms, policy, payment record, and applicable law.
What if I was charged twice?
Contact NovelCult before filing a chargeback. Include the two charge dates, amounts, novel, tier, and Stripe receipt or invoice references.
NovelCult can compare the Checkout Session, subscription, invoice, and payment records to determine whether a duplicate charge occurred. Do not create additional Checkout Sessions while the issue is being reviewed.
What if I paid but never received access?
Treat this first as an access or payment-verification issue. Confirm that:
- you are signed in to the same NovelCult account used during Checkout;
- the subscription appears under My Subscriptions;
- the payment and subscription are active in Stripe;
- the subscription belongs to the affected novel and tier; and
- the chapter is inside the tier's current advance window.
Contact support with the payment evidence so NovelCult can check the Checkout Session, subscription status, invoice status, account, tier, and novel. If a successful payment cannot be matched to working access or otherwise resolved, the case may be reviewed for a refund or another remedy.
What if paid content is deleted?
If paid content is removed after a reader paid for access, NovelCult may review the situation for a partial refund, full refund, restored access, replacement access, or another appropriate resolution.
The result can depend on:
- whether the removal was voluntary;
- whether the content violated platform rules;
- whether copyright, fraud, or safety concerns required removal;
- whether the author's account was suspended;
- how much of the paid benefit remained available; and
- applicable legal requirements.
A refund is not automatic.
What if content was removed for a policy violation?
A refund is not guaranteed when content is removed because of fraud, copyright infringement, prohibited content, or another policy violation. NovelCult may review the reader's payment and access situation separately, but policy enforcement does not automatically create a refund.
How do I request a refund?
Use the official support options on Contact NovelCult. In the request, provide the account email, novel title, tier, payment date, Stripe receipt or invoice ID, and a clear description of the problem.
Do not publish payment references in a public comment or community channel. Send them only through an appropriate official support path.
How long does an approved refund take?
If NovelCult approves and initiates a refund, Stripe, the payment method, the card network, the reader's bank, and the reader's location can affect processing and deposit times.
NovelCult can confirm whether it initiated a refund but cannot guarantee the exact date on which a bank will display the funds.
Can I request a refund directly from Stripe?
Stripe may display payment or dispute options, but readers should contact NovelCult first for subscription access, content, duplicate billing, cancellation, and ordinary refund questions.
A bank chargeback or payment dispute is different from a normal support refund. It starts a formal process controlled by the bank, payment network, and Stripe and can affect subscription access and author payout accounting.
What is a chargeback?
A chargeback occurs when a cardholder asks a bank or payment provider to reverse a payment instead of resolving it through the merchant's normal support process.
It is different from:
- canceling a subscription;
- requesting a normal refund; and
- reporting a technical access issue.
Use a bank's fraud process promptly for genuinely unauthorized card use. For ordinary product or billing problems, contact NovelCult first whenever possible.
Should I contact NovelCult before filing a chargeback?
Yes, whenever possible for:
- payment completed but access missing;
- duplicate billing;
- an accidental renewal;
- content unavailable;
- an incorrect tier; or
- billing confusion.
NovelCult can investigate its subscription and Stripe records. A direct support resolution is often faster and avoids an unnecessary formal dispute.
What happens after a chargeback is filed?
Stripe, the payment network, and the bank manage the formal dispute. NovelCult may:
- review the associated payment;
- check access and subscription history;
- preserve relevant transaction and support records;
- respond to the dispute where appropriate;
- restrict access connected to the disputed payment while it is reviewed; and
- review the account for fraud or abuse.
The disputed payment may be excluded from author payout calculations while the dispute is open.
Will a chargeback immediately delete my account?
Not necessarily. A genuine dispute is reviewed based on the payment, account, access, support, and fraud evidence.
NovelCult may restrict affected subscription or account activity during the investigation, especially where there are signs of unauthorized use, repeated disputes, fraud, or misuse of paid content. The Terms describe possible consequences for abuse.
Can I use the subscription during a dispute?
Access is not guaranteed while a payment is disputed. The Stripe payment state, subscription state, account history, and platform review may affect access.
If you filed the dispute because of a technical problem, tell NovelCult support and provide the dispute status so the records can be reviewed accurately.
What is chargeback abuse?
Examples can include:
- consuming paid content and falsely claiming that the payment was unauthorized;
- repeatedly subscribing and disputing payments;
- creating multiple accounts to repeat disputed purchases;
- purchasing through connected accounts to manipulate earnings;
- filing disputes after receiving the advertised access without a legitimate reason; or
- coordinating false disputes against an author or NovelCult.
A reader with a genuine unauthorized charge or unresolved billing error should still report it. Review depends on evidence, not merely on the existence of a dispute.
What can happen after fraudulent or repeated chargebacks?
After appropriate review and subject to applicable law, fraudulent or repeated chargeback activity may lead to:
- temporary account suspension;
- loss of subscription access;
- cancellation of active subscriptions;
- permanent account termination;
- loss of monetization privileges;
- recovery of fraud-related balances; or
- further action where legally appropriate.
What if someone used my card without permission?
Contact your bank or card issuer immediately and also contact NovelCult. Do not wait if a payment is genuinely unauthorized.
Where available, provide NovelCult with the account email, payment date, amount, Stripe receipt or transaction reference, and an explanation that the payment was unauthorized. Do not send full card details.
Your bank or card issuer may require its formal fraud-reporting process.
What if I do not recognize the charge but it may be mine?
Before filing a dispute, check:
- other email addresses or NovelCult accounts you use;
- shared household accounts;
- My Subscriptions;
- Stripe receipts;
- the novel and tier name;
- the billing date; and
- whether the charge was a recurring renewal.
If you still cannot identify it, contact NovelCult and your financial institution.
Can I receive both a refund and a chargeback?
Do not pursue both recovery processes for the same payment at the same time. If a chargeback has already been filed, tell NovelCult support.
Duplicate recovery attempts can complicate the investigation and may delay an otherwise available resolution.
What happens to author earnings during a dispute?
The disputed payment may be removed from payout-eligible earnings while the dispute is open. If the payment is refunded or the dispute is lost:
- the platform records the payment reversal;
- an associated author transfer may be reversed where possible; or
- if an immediate reversal is unavailable, the amount may be deducted from future author transfers subject to the Terms, policy, and applicable law.
This is primarily an author-side accounting process. Readers should use NovelCult support and the applicable Stripe or bank process for their own payment case.
Can an author be charged for a reader's chargeback?
An author may be financially affected when a reader's payment is refunded, disputed, or charged back. NovelCult may reverse a related transfer or deduct the amount from future transfers as described by the Terms and monetization rules, subject to applicable law.
Authors should preserve fulfilment and reader-support records and should not pressure a reader to withdraw a legitimate unauthorized-payment report.
