The Star Of Ire
"No one is good to you once you stop pleasing them." Three thousand years ago, the gods made a wager: do mortals deserve to exist? The cruelest god cursed mankind. The kindest offered a way out. In the dark, the curse still waits — not for the wicked, but for the one the world chose to break. Three thousand years, and it has never once failed. Two centuries after the last catastrophe, Aseri sings hymns to a hero-king and calls the truth a myth. Markella believes every word — top of her class, bound for the palace, certain of her golden future. She has no idea what she is. She has no idea what's waiting. The Star of Ire has slept long enough.
