When Youth Burns
Myself Daniel, as Do-yoon in this novel made a novel on my life. Shin Do-yoon never expected middle school to change his life. Quiet, withdrawn, and carrying more than he lets anyone see, Do-yoon arrives at Seorin Middle School two weeks after the school year has already begun. While everyone else seems to have found their place, he remains a stranger among familiar faces, trying to get through each day without drawing attention to himself. Then he meets Choi Seung-min. Seung-min is loud where Do-yoon is quiet, reckless where Do-yoon is cautious, and somehow manages to pull him into a friendship neither of them expected. What begins with a few ordinary conversations slowly becomes something deeper: two lonely boys finding in each other the kind of companionship they had been missing. But youth isn't only about laughter, friendship, and memories. Behind closed doors, Do-yoon carries problems no one at school knows about. Seung-min has struggles of his own. And as their lives begin to intertwine, the line between ordinary school days and the things they are trying to escape becomes harder to ignore. Some friendships change your life. Some years leave scars. And some moments stay with you long after youth has burned away.
