Killing your younger brother at the age of ten isn't something you forget. Years later, Cole is chosen for the Trial of the Abyss, a descent into a place where survival is forced and the weak are swallowed whole. Most begin the trial with a fall into endless black. Cole finds himself standing before a castle that should not exist. Summoned alongside five strangers just before the trial truly begins, he is drawn into a hidden clique tied to something far older and more dangerous than the Abyss itself. A girl riddled with curiosity. A man who speaks like he's already seen the end. A masked figure who claims the Gods are not what humanity believes. And when he finally completes his trial, Cole learns it was only the beginning.
