Hi!

I'm currently writing a story I hope to put up on RR (I'm pretty far into draft one and am beginning on 2nd draft edits of the starting season). While I was doing this I was outlining ahead so that I had an idea of where I was going plus I was continuing the omnibus first draft. Looking at my structuring and chapters etc.

Side note: The story was originally going to be a trilogy but after researching serial fiction and fleshing it out a bit I decided to give serialization a shot. Essentially I"m going to be breaking it into seasons since the story already sectioned quite well into different smaller arcs that fit the bigger one. Fleshing it out to make it more serial-like...

ANYWAYS...

I was wondering how jarring it would be for the last sort of "episode" / chapter to be from a different PoV for each season. The story is 99% from the PoV of the MC (it's a 3rd person limited tale) however I'm outlining season 2 of it (I'm currently writing through it in the 1st draft so trying to fit the puzzle pieces into outline too roughly) and I thought it would be cool foreshadowing to put in another character (who's pretty far away & not showing up until season 6ish) as a one chapter 'teaser' to show something that's going on that will effect the character down the road in a big way.

Essentially : How jarring is it for a reader to get one-shot chapters from other perspectives if they may never see that characters perspective again (but do see the character down the line)? I'm thinking "game of thrones prologue"... except at the end.

Be the first to break it.
